Real-time data and sports media provider Flashscore, operating in technical cooperation with research agency TGM Research, has compiled a specialized consumer study analyzing the viewing and betting intentions of 2,000 sports fans across the United Kingdom ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Late Night Viewing Telemetry and Micro Betting Trends
The consumer telemetry indicates exceptional engagement levels, with 86.8% of male sports fans and 81.6% of female sports fans within online sports audiences planning to follow the tournament very or extremely closely. Because time zone differences across the North American host nations will push multiple live kick-offs to around or after midnight UK time, the study exposes a strong generational divide regarding live viewership.
Specifically, 41.5% of consumers aged 18–34 confirmed they will definitely watch England’s late-night matches live, alongside 34.3% who probably will. Conversely, the metric drops to 35.0% for the 35–54 demographic, and slides down to 30.1% for sports fans aged 55 and older.
On transactional wagering preferences, the report indicates that contemporary bettors are heavily prioritizing in-play micro-markets over standard match results. During the tracking window, 64% of UK users prioritized placing “Both Teams to Score” (BTTS) bets, while 59% executed Over/Under total goals wagers. This activity noticeably outpaced the 49% of consumers who placed standard 1X2 match outcome bets, confirming a clear shift toward real-time engagement.
Speed as a Core Value for Betting Audiences
Martin Matejka, Marketing Director of Flashscore, stated that high-velocity score tracking forms a critical data bridge for interactive betting platforms:
“The World Cup is one of the biggest events on the global sports calendar. Flashscore attracts highly engaged sports fans, and this audience closely overlaps with the betting market. Bettors need fast, reliable scores and statistics right at that moment, which is exactly what we deliver.
Our survey shows that 46% of Flashscore users (the highest share among key market players) that have experience with other competitors have selected Flashscore as the fastest, proving that speed matters. This combination makes Flashscore a natural partner for betting platforms looking to connect with an active audience.”
