Danish Gambling Authority · Overview
The Danish Gambling Authority, is the responsible operating body which oversees and is responsible for all the gambling activity in the territory of Denmark. With its creation on 1st of December 2012, it became the highest and only authority when it comes to protecting the players rights and fighting crime in gambling industry in Denmark. Originally founded in 2000 as part of the Danish Ministry of Taxation, with the sole goal of controlling the gaming machines all over Denmark. Due to the Act of Gambling, in 2012 the DGA has become the sole authority capable of providing licenses. Consequently, as of January 1st 2013, the Danish Gaming Authority has become an independent governing body, with its own director.

The Danish Gaming Authority regulates and oversees all of the following activities:
- Gaming – All Casino Gaming(Poker, Bingo, Slots, Casino Table Games)
- Betting – Sports, Horse Race, Fantasy Sports,
- Lotteries – Lotteries & Bingo
- Social/Skill Arrangement – Social Gaming, Skill Games & Competitions (no elements of chance)
Furthermore, this gaming authority has different licensing fees, depending on which license you have. As usual when it comes to licensing, you are required to follow certain conditions. Bellow you can see all the license types and their cost:
Single License (Difference Between Betting License and an Online Casino License) – 287,800 Kroner
Double License (application for both betting and online casino at the same time) – 400,100 Kroner
Income Limited license – 57,200 Kroner
Due to the Gambling Act, the provision of games is subject to certain fees under the Danish Gambling Act. The fee calculation is different for all and varies depending on the game:
- Betting(Online & Land-Based) – 20% of GGR(received stakes minus paid out winnings) / Part of the amount (20%) is charged in commission
- Online Casinos – 20% of GGR / Part of the amount (20%) is charged in commission
- Land-Based Casinos – 45% of GGR minus amount of the special tipping chips plus 30% if GGR exceeds DKK 4.179.200
- Physical Gaming Machines in Arcades and Restaurants – 41% of GGR(Gaming machines and restaurants pay additional 30% if GGR exceeds DKK 31.400/ Gaming machine in arcades pay additional 30% if GGR exceeds DKK 261.200
- Non-Profit Lottery – 17.5% if exceeds over DKK 750
- Prizes in Relation to Free Games(Games Without Stake) – 17.5% if exceeds over DKK 750
In addition to these fees, the gambling operator is required to pay annual fee for the license. This can vary from DKK 57.000 up to DKK 5.143.500. Also, possession of one gaming machine is equal to an annual fee of DKK 655 per gaming machine.
