Flashscore has solidified its reputation as the global leader in real-time sports data, ranking as the fastest results platform among UK fans.
According to new research into audience consumption habits, 46% of 2,000 surveyed sports fans in the UK identified Flashscore as the quickest provider for live scores and match updates.
Global Dominance and Infrastructure
The survey revealed similar trends in other major sports markets. In Italy, 49% of respondents named Flashscore (operating locally as Diretta) the fastest, while in Brazil, a staggering 53% of the 3,300 participants reached the same conclusion. Beyond speed, the platform was cited for its reliability, often outperforming national broadcasters and established local competitors in accuracy.
Flashscore Director of Engineering Tomáš Kavka emphasized that this performance is the result of cumulative strategic choices for the platform:
“It is not one magic technology that solves everything, it is a lot of small and larger right decisions over time. Serving a user in South America from Europe is technically possible, but speed is in our DNA. If we want to be the fastest on every continent, we need to be as close as possible to the user. And the data needs to reach that location the moment it appears in our database.”
Scaling for a Digital Future
Celebrating its 20th year since launch, Flashscore now reports over 125 million monthly users worldwide and more than 400 million app downloads. The platform’s infrastructure was significantly upgraded in 2024 with a new data center in Prague that tripled its processing capacity.
This robust architecture was put to the test during a recent high-traffic Champions League matchday, where the platform successfully managed 34 million users in a single day.
During peak periods, Flashscore handled 700 million notifications and processed up to 1.3 million requests per second. In the UK specifically, the platform has surpassed four million downloads, with users spending an average of 30 minutes per day engaged with the app’s sports data and news ecosystems.
