In a milestone achievement for corporate responsibility within the gaming sector, Brightstar Lottery has secured its inaugural score in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA).
Operating as a pure-play lottery company, Brightstar earned an overall rating of 56 for the 2025 evaluation cycle, a figure that dramatically outperforms the industry average score of 31. This distinction underscores the company’s position as a leader in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) performance within the global lottery and iGaming ecosystem.
A Methodology Grounded in Financial Relevance
The S&P Global CSA, utilized since 1999 as the foundation for the Dow Jones Sustainability Indices, evaluates organizations across 61 industrial categories using a “best-in-class” approach.
Rather than excluding sectors, it assesses companies relative to their peers across approximately 20 sustainability indicators considered financially relevant to their specific field. By participating in this rigorous framework, Brightstar Lottery has successfully quantified its performance across complex economic, environmental, and social criteria.
In addition to its high score, Brightstar has been inducted into the 2026 S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook, which recognizes companies that showcase an exceptional commitment to sustainable growth. This inclusion is particularly vital as modern investors and global regulators place increasing emphasis on verifiable sustainability reporting rather than vague corporate promises.
Strategic Sustainability as a Corporate Identity
The inaugural S&P score for Brightstar Lottery is an achievement reflects a long-term strategy to weave ethical practices into every facet of the business.
Wendy Montgomery, Brightstar SVP of Branding, Communications, and Sustainability, noted that the company remains dedicated to setting the pace for the entire lottery industry:
“Brightstar Lottery’s achievement of receiving an S&P Global CSA score of 56 for the first time as a pure play lottery company showcases our continuous commitment to leading the lottery industry in global sustainability. We ensure sustainable practices are woven into the fabric of our corporate identity through strategic sustainability efforts focused on our most important stakeholders. We are proud to be included in the S&P Global Sustainability Yearbook for 2026 and will continue our efforts to build a sustainable future for our people and the planet”.
