The Twitch Hack Finally Shows How Much The Biggest Streamers Earn

Twitch is the latest victim of hackers, only this time the hack reveals the earnings of several of the video platform’s biggest streamers. While on the surface this news doesn’t sound like much, it attracts attention due to one simple reason. And that is the fact that up till this hacking incident, no one really had any idea how much exactly do the streamers on Twitch earn.

According to Twitch, the hackers stole roughly 125GB of various information, including the transaction history of users and source codes. And consequently, the earnings of the most popular streamers. And the post on 4chan revealed that the number one streamer on the list earned $9.6m between August 2019, and October 2021. Moreover, the top 5 streamers together shared around $35m, for the same period between 2019 and 2021. The top five look something like this:

All in all, the post reveals that the first 81 Twitch streamers earned more than 1 million dollars between 2019 and 2021. Something that definitely is not up to the liking of the Twitch community. Especially if we consider that the attacker even said that this is just the beginning. Hinting that very soon we may get a second part of the secret Twitch economy.

Naturally, the Twitch community is furious that the latest hack reveals the earnings of the streamers. Especially since the post affects a great deal of the Twitch community. And being the largest video streaming platform in the world, this news is only getting hotter. For now, all we can do is sit and wait to see what the hackers of Twitch plan to do next. And will they stay true to their word and release even ‘spicier’ documents than these?
