In a major leap for responsible gaming, the Mendoza Province has officially launched an online system for self-exclusion from betting platforms.
Approved by the Provincial Institute of Games and Casinos (IPJyC), this update to the Unified Self-Exclusion Registry allows citizens to protect themselves from gambling harm without having to physically visit a casino.
Biometric Precision for Player Safety
At the heart of this new system is the Integrated Facial Recognition System (SIRF). This technology ensures a more accurate identification process, preventing self-excluded individuals from accessing physical or digital venues once the process is complete.
Operators within the province are now legally required to synchronize their databases with the new SIRF system to maintain their licenses.
Removing Geographic Barriers
The move is specifically designed to aid residents in rural areas who previously faced significant travel hurdles to register for exclusion. The IPJyC Social Responsibility division noted:
“The system will enable any person, regardless of their geographic location, to request self-exclusion.”
This regulation replaces a more rigid framework from 2021 and takes effect immediately. By integrating facial recognition and digital access, Mendoza is positioning itself as a national leader in Argentina in public health interventions within the gaming sector.
The strategy reinforces the idea that modern regulation must serve as a practical tool for consumer protection, giving individuals immediate control over their relationship with gambling.
