Genting Singapore Reports Strong ESG Gains Driven by RWS 2.0 Sustainability

Genting Singapore's Resorts World Sentosa supported over 24,700 people through community initiatives in 2025.

Genting Singapore Ltd, the operator of the iconic Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), has released its 2025 sustainability report, detailing substantial progress in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) metrics.

The report highlights that community programs at the integrated resort benefited over 24,700 people last year, supported by SGD2.1 million ($1.6 million) in financial aid and over 1,600 staff volunteer hours.

Balancing Tourism Growth with Social Good

Executive Chairman and Acting CEO Lim Kok Thay framed these achievements as part of a long-term evolution rather than a final destination. He noted that shifting global tourism trends require a fundamental rethink of operations to ensure stability and guest satisfaction.

A major focus of the year was the intersection of education and the arts. The “Youth Ocean Ambassador” program at the Singapore Oceanarium worked to build marine conservation knowledge among children, while the company established a SGD200,000 seed fund to support local arts organizations through the National Arts Council.

Furthermore, RWS partnered with ART:DIS Singapore to feature works by artists with disabilities in every room of The Laurus, the city’s first Luxury Collection hotel.

Green Benchmarks and Eco-Friendly Expansion

Environmental sustainability remains a core pillar of the RWS 2.0 revamp. Notably, Minion Land at Universal Studios Singapore achieved the Green Mark Platinum Zero Energy rating, utilizing solar power and 100% LED lighting. The WEAVE retail precinct and The Laurus hotel also integrated climate-smart designs and real-time energy trackers.

Genting Singapore’s efforts were recognized with an ‘A-‘ from CDP and a maintained ‘AA’ MSCI ESG rating. Lim Kok Thay summarized the group’s strategy:

“Every dollar spent improves guest stays while locking in lasting stability… balancing profit and purpose, ensuring success for RWS 2.0”.
