FanDuel Enters “Revitalisation Programme” Following Exit of CEO Amy Howe

A positive start to the 2026 fiscal year for Flutter Entertainment has been tempered by major leadership changes in North America.

A positive start to the 2026 fiscal year for Flutter Entertainment has been tempered by major leadership changes in North America.

The group confirmed the resignation of Amy Howe as CEO of FanDuel, just as the brand prepares for a sweeping “revitalisation programme” designed to transition it away from its current “soft sportsbook” status and improve profitability.

Strategic Re-Engineering in the US Market

The leadership transition comes at a time of increased competition from prediction market platforms like Kalshi and Polymarket. Flutter is prioritizing the recovery of its US sportsbook performance after flagging a 9% decline in handle and a 6% drop in average monthly players (AMPs).

Group CEO Peter Jackson explained the timing of the reshuffle:

“Christian Genetski has proved to be an exceptional leader. He has been instrumental in scaling the FanDuel business to market leadership.”

Jackson dismissed concerns that the group was panicking, framing the recent push toward enhanced loyalty rewards and product personalization as a return to a “customer-first approach.” He highlighted that new mechanics like “Bet Protect+” have already exceeded engagement expectations.

Prediction Markets and International Growth

Flutter is committing an investment envelope of $250 million to $300 million toward developing its own prediction markets offering in 2026. CFO Robert Coldrake confirmed the group spent approximately $40 million in Q1 on these initiatives during an initial “testing and learning phase”.

While analysts focused on the US, Flutter’s international division reported a 27% revenue increase to $2.54 billion. Peter Jackson noted the extraordinary performance of the Italian portfolio, which now serves two million active accounts:

“Our performance in Italy has been extremely strong… We are the clear number one operator online, outgrowing the market and our main competitors.”

Despite the ongoing leadership change at FanDuel, leadership insists that Flutter possesses the structural advantages, turbocharged by growth in Brazil and Italy, required to maintain global dominance in 2026.
