International live scores and data platform Flashscore has officially launched a highly advanced player performance evaluation system, branded as the Flashscore Rating.

The Prague headquartered company developed the algorithmic metric in close coordination with legendary former Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech, aiming to provide a detailed, role based statistical grade for professional football players.
The new configuration processes over 70 unique data points into a single composite score, moving far past generic metrics to assess specialized match actions. The algorithm weighs complex variables, including big chances created, ball recovery counts, and technical errors leading directly to goals.
Crucially, the Flashscore system accounts for position specific strengths such as aerial duel dominance and crossing accuracy, completely preventing defensive or holding midfielders from being graded against irrelevant attacking templates. The ratings calculate continuously as live fixtures unfold, with the underlying variables made visible to users via an interactive Player Card. To receive a score, an athlete must accumulate at least 10 minutes on the pitch.
Petr Cech explained that transitioning to a continuous data algorithm eliminates the subjective bias that has historically corrupted traditional post match sports journalism:
“The new Flashscore rating is not a journalist’s opinion – it’s a data algorithm. Once the system knows which role a player was active in, it builds a rating for that specific match. No more goalscorers getting inflated ratings for one moment, while a midfielder who runs the game gets a forgettable 6.8. The rating isn’t fixed at kick-off and it doesn’t just apply at full-time. It updates continuously as the match unfolds. Every bonus is listed on the Player Card, where you can see exactly why a player got their number. There is no black box. When I played, ratings felt arbitrary. Whether it was a 6.0 or a 7.0, you never really knew what moved the needle. However, the new Flashscore rating shows the workings, and that changes everything.”
