The UK Tote Group has announced a major addition to its leadership team with the appointment of John O’Reilly as a Non-Executive Director.
O’Reilly, a former CEO of the Rank Group, brings over 35 years of high-level industry experience to the Tote as the organization looks to expand its global pool betting footprint.
A Pedigree of Gaming Leadership
O’Reilly’s career reads as a history of the modern British betting market. Before his eight-year tenure at Rank, he held executive roles at Ladbrokes, served as Managing Director of Coral Interactive, and was a Non-Executive Director at William Hill.
He currently serves as the Chair of the horse racing group Weatherbys, a role he will maintain alongside his new position at the Tote.
John Williamson, Chairman of the UK Tote Group, welcomed the hire:
“John is one of the most experienced and respected leaders in the betting industry. He will provide valuable support to the Tote team, particularly in relation to product development and customer experience.”
The Future of Pool Betting
Reflecting on his new role, John O’Reilly stated:
“While the Tote has a century of history, I believe it has a very valuable role to play in the future of horse racing, both in the UK and Ireland and around the globe. Through further enhancements to the pool product, alongside developing deepening international partnerships, I believe the Tote has its best days ahead of it.”
The appointment, effective May 1, comes as the Tote continues to innovate its digital product suite to compete with traditional fixed-odds sportsbooks in a shifting regulatory landscape.
