In a move that signals the beginning of a new chapter for the global digital sports media giant, Better Collective has officially announced the election of Thomas Plenborg as the new Chair of the Board.
The decision was finalized during the firm’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) held earlier today, following the scheduled resignation of Jens Bager, who had previously announced he would not seek re-election.
The Legacy of Jens Bager
Jens Bager’s departure marks the end of a highly successful nine-year tenure. Joining the board in 2016 and ascending to the chairmanship in 2017, Bager oversaw Better Collective’s transition from a niche affiliate to a powerhouse listed on the Stockholm and Copenhagen stock exchanges. Under his guidance, the group executed an aggressive M&A strategy that expanded its footprint across North America, Europe, and South America.
Reflecting on the transition, Thomas Plenborg stated:
“I would like to express my appreciation to Jens for his leadership and long standing commitment to Better Collective. He has played a central role in shaping the governance, strategic direction, and growth journey over the past decade. I now look forward to working closely with the management team and my fellow board members to continue developing Better Collective for the benefit of all our stakeholders, including our customers, partners, employees and shareholders”.
A Professor of Growth and Strategy
Thomas Plenborg is no stranger to large-scale corporate steering. Currently a professor at the Copenhagen Business School, he also serves as the chair of DSV, one of the world’s largest transport and logistics groups. During his time at DSV, the company achieved massive scale through a combination of organic development and high-value acquisitions—a trajectory Better Collective aims to emulate as it strives to become the world’s leading digital sports media group.
Jesper Søgaard, Co-Founder and co-CEO of Better Collective, expressed high confidence in the new appointment:
“We are pleased to welcome Thomas Plenborg as our new chair. Having worked with him on the board over the past year, we have already benefited from his deep financial and strategic insights. His experience with globally-leading companies will be invaluable as we continue our work towards becoming the leading digital sports media group”.
Board Re-elections and Future Governance
In addition to the chair appointment, shareholders at the AGM approved the re-election of Vice Chair Therese Hillman, along with board members René Efraim Rechtman, Leif Nørgaard, Britt Ingrid Boeskov, and Todd Dunlap. This consistency in the supporting board roles, combined with Plenborg’s financial expertise, ensures that Better Collective maintains its rigorous governance standards while pursuing its next phase of global expansion.
