In a significant expansion of its locally regulated footprint, Stake has officially entered the iGaming market of Mexico.

In a significant expansion of its locally regulated footprint, Stake has officially entered the iGaming market of Mexico.

The operator has gone live via stake.mx, offering its full suite of sports betting and casino products to one of Latin America’s most high-velocity gambling hubs.

Capitalizing on a Digital Shift

The launch comes at a pivotal time for the region; in 2025, online gaming revenue in Mexico surpassed land-based revenue for the first time in history. This shift is driven by a mobile-first population and evolving regulations, creating a dynamic growth opportunity that Stake is now positioned to capture.

Stake will operate under a permit-based structure regulated by SEGOB, acting as an agent under Uno Capali’s license agreement. This move further solidifies the brand’s presence in Latin America, where it already maintains established operations in Peru and Colombia.

Strategic Timing and World Cup Synergy

A major catalyst for the launch is Mexico’s role as a co-host for the 2026 World Cup. With the national team drawn against South Africa, South Korea, and the Czech Republic, the tournament is expected to drive unprecedented sportsbook acquisition and engagement.

Stake Director Jarrod Febbraio emphasized the market’s long-term potential:

“Mexico is an important and exciting market for us – one that combines strong underlying growth with a deep cultural connection to sport, which aligns perfectly with what Stake is built for. The timing of this launch reflects our ability to move with precision into high-value markets at the right moment.”

Febbraio added that the expansion allows the brand to deliver a “world-class experience” for Mexican players while establishing a dominant presence ahead of one of the world’s premier sporting events.

Reputation Management and Brand Ambassadors

This entry into a regulated, local-currency market is part of a broader strategic push to enhance Stake’s reputation beyond its original crypto-focused global business. To bolster its football credentials, Stake signed former Belgian international Eden Hazard as its official World Cup ambassador in March. Hazard joins an elite roster of celebrity partners that includes Drake and Alex Pereira.
