UK Gambling Commission Reinstates Spribe OÜ Operating Licence Following Five-Month Suspension

The UK Gambling Commission has cleared Spribe OÜ to return to the British market following a technical compliance review.

In a significant development for the UK’s digital gaming landscape, the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) has officially lifted the suspension of Spribe OÜ’s operating licence.

The decision, effective as of March 30, 2026, allows the innovative software provider to resume providing gambling facilities within the United Kingdom, ending a high-profile regulatory hiatus that began in late 2025.

Addressing “Serious Non-Compliance”

The initial halt was triggered on October 30, 2025, under section 118(2) of the Gambling Act 2005. At the time, the UKGC cited “serious non-compliance with the hosting requirements” of its licensing framework as the primary reason for the emergency measure.

Spribe was ordered to immediately cease all hosting activities until it could demonstrate full adherence to the specific technical authorizations required to operate as a remote software provider in the British market.

The Commission’s reinstatement notice marks a successful resolution of these technical hurdles:

“The Licensee is now permitted to provide gambling facilities in reliance on its gambling software licence,” the UKGC stated in its formal update.

A “Technical Mix-Up” Resolved

Throughout the five-month suspension, Spribe maintained that the issue stemmed from a procedural misunderstanding regarding the need for an additional hosting authorization alongside its standard remote operating licence.

A Spribe OÜ spokesperson for the company previously clarified to NEXT.io:

“We acknowledge the UKGC’s announcement and are taking this matter extremely seriously. We are working diligently to resolve the issue as swiftly as possible. Spribe has held a remote operating licence in the UK market since late 2020 and has complied with all its terms, including annual audits, regulatory returns, and transparent communication with the UKGC.”

Despite the legal green light, the rollout of Spribe’s flagship “crash” game, Aviator, has not been instantaneous. Reports indicate that as of 72 hours following the reinstatement, the title remained unavailable across major UK online casinos as operators conduct their own internal compliance checks and technical reintegration.
