In a major move to protect the global game, FIFA has officially extended and significantly expanded its integrity services agreement with Sportradar Group AG (NASDAQ: SRAD).
This renewed partnership, which is now scheduled to run through 2031, reinforces a long-standing commitment to safeguarding football from the threats of match-fixing and betting-related corruption on a worldwide scale.
The expanded mandate provides FIFA and its 211 member associations with access to sophisticated AI-driven bet-monitoring technology, along with enhanced intelligence, investigation support, and dedicated risk assessment services.
This comprehensive approach is designed to help FIFA identify and respond to integrity risks in an increasingly complex and rapidly evolving global betting landscape.
The Power of AI in Fraud Detection
Under the terms of the agreement, Sportradar will provide oversight across an unprecedented range of competitions:
- International Competitions: Full coverage of both men’s and women’s FIFA international tournaments.
- Confederation and Club Events: Monitoring for international club competitions and confederation-run matches.
- Domestic Leagues: Senior men’s and women’s matches from the top two professional tiers of all member associations.
- National Cups: Comprehensive monitoring for the main national cup competitions globally.
Since the partnership’s inception in 2017, Sportradar has utilized its proprietary Universal Fraud Detection System (UFDS AI) to monitor more than 600,000 matches globally. This system is powered by over 20 years of historical data and is supplemented by real-time reporting from betting operators.
Andreas Krannich, Sportradar Group’s EVP Integrity Services, emphasized the importance of the expansion:
“Our integrity services are designed to address risk in a joined-up way, combining bet monitoring through our AI-powered Universal Fraud Detection System (UFDS AI) — built in-house using more than 20 years of historical data — with rapid reporting from betting operators, alongside comprehensive education and prevention programmes delivered to sports organisations worldwide.”
The partnership will also continue to deliver vital education and prevention programs to sports organizations worldwide, ensuring that fair and clean sport remains a priority at every level.
