Romania’s National Office for Gambling (ONJN) has taken decisive action against unlicensed operators by adding 30 new gambling websites to the country’s official blacklist.

The move follows standard regulatory procedure aimed at blocking access to any iGaming platforms that are operating in the market without the required Romanian authorization.

This enforcement is part of a broader effort to tighten oversight of the nation’s gambling sector.

The newly blacklisted domains include a variety of international and lesser-known casino and betting sites, such as wazbee.casinojacktop.comroostake.com, several platforms under the “nv” casino brand, and multiple ybets domains.

In accordance with the Romania’s National Office for Gambling’s decision, Romanian internet service providers (ISPs) are now mandated to block all traffic to these websites within 15 days of being notified.

Any traffic attempting to access the banned domains will be redirected to a designated ONJN IP address. Operators affected by the ruling have a 30-day window to file an administrative appeal with the Bucharest Court of Appeal.

This regulatory crackdown occurs amid heightened scrutiny of the ONJN itself. Earlier this year, a report from the Court of Accounts (CCR) uncovered significant compliance and oversight failures within the regulatory body.

The report estimated that as much as RON 3.6 billion (nearly $1 billion) in licensing and authorization fees may have gone undeclared between 2019 and 2023.

These findings have sparked intense political debate and led to proposals for much stricter gambling regulations, including potential spending caps for players.
