The leading global gambling technology company Playtech has marked its official entry into the cruise leisure sector through a strategic partnership with MSC Cruises.

The agreement will see Playtech’s retail sports betting product rolled out across the private cruise line’s fleet, significantly expanding the entertainment options available to guests at sea.

This collaboration builds upon an earlier partnership launched this year and enhances MSC’s existing gaming offerings, which include a wide range of slot machines and traditional table games.

The new sports betting solution is being progressively deployed across the MSC fleet.

The technology includes state-of-the-art self-service betting terminals and new mobile tills, which are fully integrated with each guest’s onboard account for a seamless user experience. This allows passengers to easily place wagers on a wide variety of global sporting events.

The rollout is already live on seven of the cruise line’s vessels, with further deployments planned over the coming months to bring the sports betting technology to more of the 23-ship fleet.

This partnership is a significant milestone for both companies. For Playtech, it represents a successful expansion of its retail sports betting solutions into a new and unique vertical, demonstrating the versatility of its offerings.

For MSC Cruises, which already has existing ties to the gambling industry, the addition of a world-class sportsbook provides a new layer of immersive digital content to complement its state-of-the-art onboard casinos and elevate the overall guest experience.

Yori Arami, VP of Sports at Playtech, said:

We are excited to partner with MSC Cruises and bring our retail sports betting solutions to their impressive fleet. This partnership represents a significant milestone for Playtech as we continue to expand our offerings and provide unique, engaging experiences for players around the world on land and sea.

Maro Friso, Head of Casino at MSC Cruises, commented:

We are very proud to be able to deliver the excitement and engagement of sports gaming to our guests through our partnership with Playtech. Our fleet of modern cruise ships will provide our customers a wide array of immersive digital content as a complement to our state-of-the-art cruise casinos.
