In a groundbreaking move for U.S. online lottery gaming, the Virginia Lottery has introduced the nation’s first-ever Virtual Sports (VSports) games to its iLottery platform.
This innovative launch provides players with new digital betting experiences, featuring virtual football, basketball, and horse racing—all accessible via desktop and mobile.
The new VSports offerings were created by Inspired Entertainment and brought to market through a strategic collaboration with NeoPollard Interactive, a joint venture between Aristocrat Interactive and Pollard Banknote.
Through this partnership, Aristocrat Interactive utilized its Fusion aggregation platform to seamlessly integrate the new virtual sports content into Virginia’s digital lottery system.
Unlike traditional lottery games, VSports simulate real-world sporting events using certified random number generators. These systems ensure each outcome is fair, secure, and independent of any real-world sports results. Players can wager on their preferred sport during scheduled events, enhancing the experience with animated graphics and engaging gameplay.
Chris Shaban, Managing Director of Aristocrat Interactive’s iLottery Division, emphasized the strategic value of this rollout:
This marks a major advancement for digital lotteries in the U.S. By integrating cutting-edge virtual content, we’re expanding the entertainment value for modern players while maintaining responsible gaming practices.
This marks a pivotal moment for the evolving iLottery sector in the United States. As digital lottery engagement continues to grow, Virginia is now setting the standard for innovation and user experience by pioneering VSports content for its players.
