The International Gaming Standards Association (IGSA) has announced a significant expansion of its global responsible gaming initiative.
The organization has welcomed two powerhouse Canadian entities as new partner members: the Responsible Gambling Council (RGC) and Focal Research Consultants Ltd.
Bridging Research and Practical Standards
The addition of these groups brings over 30 years of specialized expertise to the IGSA. Focal Research, based in Halifax, is renowned for its proprietary algorithms used in gambling risk detection and player support. Meanwhile, the Toronto-based RGC serves as a leading non-profit voice for global safer gambling practices for over 40 years.
Tracy Schrans, President of Focal Research, noted the importance of the collaboration:
“Focal relies on over 30 years of experience in research, evaluation, and player protection while developing practical industry standards that ensure players’ safety”.
Global Amplification
Sarah McCarthy, CEO of RGC, expressed a shared vision for promoting actionable standards that protect players across all digital and land-based verticals. The IGSA aims to leverage the data-driven work of its new partners to amplify the impact of responsible gaming measures worldwide, ensuring that the industry’s rapid technological growth is matched by robust harm prevention frameworks.
