GKL and Naver Cloud Enter Strategic Partnership to Drive AI Innovation in Tourism

Grand Korea Leisure (GKL), the operator behind the renowned Seven Luck casino brand, has officially entered into a joint research and business agreement with Naver Cloud.

Signed on December 30, this strategic alliance aims to accelerate the digital transformation of South Korea’s tourism and gaming sectors through the deployment of advanced artificial intelligence technologies.

Developing Sovereign AI 

The core objective of the partnership is the development and implementation of “sovereign AI” tailored specifically for the Korean market. Naver Cloud will leverage its HyperCLOVA X model, a hyperscale AI designed with a deep understanding of Korean language and culture, to create specialized services for GKL.

This collaboration represents a significant step in public-private cooperation, aligning with national goals to foster domestic technology ecosystems.

Scope of Collaboration The agreement outlines four primary pillars of cooperation:

  • Joint Research: Developing AI-driven services specifically for tourism and casino operations.
  • Technical Support: Consulting on cloud infrastructure and AI adoption strategies.
  • Education: Programs designed to enhance the digital capabilities of GKL’s human resources.
  • Pilot Projects: Implementing practical tests to demonstrate social value and operational efficiency.

Modernizing the Casino Experience 

As part of the initiative, GKL will provide a robust testing environment within its Seven Luck casinos. This will allow Naver Cloud to verify its AI solutions using real-world operational data. GKL CEO Doo-hyun Yoon emphasized that this agreement is a “kick-start” for the AI transformation of the entire industry.

By integrating smart technologies, GKL aims to evolve into a world-class urban premium tourism platform, enhancing the visitor experience through data-driven personalization and operational excellence. The partnership is expected to yield its first pilot projects in the coming months, setting a new standard for smart tourism in Asia.
