GGBET has officially closed its casino and betting operations in the United Kingdom, citing a “planned platform closure.”
The operator, which has been licensed by the UK Gambling Commission (UKGC) under the name Rednines Gaming LTD since April 2020, surrendered its license on December 13, 2025.
Winding Down Process
According to a statement on its website, GGBET has stopped accepting new registrations, deposits, and bets. However, the company is managing the exit responsibly to protect consumer funds. “We are managing this process responsibly to ensure every customer can withdraw their funds and receive full support before the closure takes effect,” the operator stated.
Existing customers have until January 9 to withdraw their remaining balances. Bets on events taking place before the closure date will be settled as normal, while any unsettled bets on events scheduled after the closure will be voided and the stakes automatically refunded.
The Impact of Tax Hikes
While GGBET framed the exit as a planned closure, the decision aligns with a broader industry trend of reevaluating the UK market following significant tax increases announced in the November budget. With remote gaming duty set to rise to 40% in April 2026, many operators are finding the market increasingly unviable. evoke CEO Per Widerström recently criticized the budget as “highly damaging” and “counterproductive,” warning it would impact investment and jobs.
GGBET joins other brands like LiveScore Bet, which recently withdrew from Bulgaria to mitigate the impact of the UK tax rises, in restructuring its global footprint.
