In a move to fortify its financial infrastructure during the industry’s most demanding periods, UK-based bookmaker Betfred has officially integrated BR-DGE’s payment orchestration platform.
The partnership, now live in the UK with international expansion on the horizon, aims to deliver seamless pay-ins and pay-outs through a single, resilient integration layer.
Processing One Million Transactions at Cheltenham
The strength of the partnership was recently put to the ultimate test during the Cheltenham Gold Cup. Over the four-day festival, BR-DGE successfully processed over one million transactions for Betfred, ensuring that rapid spikes in volume did not compromise the player experience.
By utilizing BR-DGE as a payment orchestration layer, Betfred has gained simplified connectivity to a vast array of Payment Service Providers (PSPs) and methods, including bank-to-bank transfers and digital wallets.
Jacob Spencer, Chief Revenue Officer at BR-DGE, highlighted the necessity of scalability:
“Betfred operates at real scale, particularly during major sporting events, when transaction volumes increase rapidly and payment performance is put under pressure. This partnership gives Betfred the ability to handle those spikes without slowing or restricting transactions.”
Fraud Prevention and User Trust
Beyond speed, the integration includes advanced pre- and post-authorization fraud and identity decisioning. This allows Betfred’s security teams to maintain low fraud levels without adding “friction” to the checkout process for legitimate customers.
Nick Cockerill, Group Chief Product Officer at Betfred, emphasized the importance of reliability:
“From the Grand National to a Saturday afternoon football fixture, our customers expect betting to feel easy and trusted. That includes being able to pay and get paid their winnings without delay. Working with BR-DGE helps us support that experience during our busiest periods, so payments don’t get in the way of the bet.”
