The regional iGaming landscape has reached a historic milestone with the official launch of the Balkan Gaming Federation (BGF).
The Montenegro Gambling Providers Group, operating within the Chamber of Economy, solidified its role as a founding member by signing a Memorandum of Cooperation in Belgrade. This platform is the first of its kind, designed to unite the leading gaming organizations from across the Balkan Peninsula.
A Unified Voice for Regional Integrity
The federation brings together industry bodies from Serbia, Bulgaria, Croatia, Romania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and North Macedonia.
The primary objective of the BGF is to create a coordinated front against common challenges, including regulatory volatility and the proliferation of the illegal market. By sharing resources and expertise, the federation aims to establish a more sustainable and stable business environment for legal operators.
Key areas of future cooperation include:
- The fight against illegal gambling
- Combating unfair competition
- Exchanging regulatory experiences
- Coordination regarding legislation
- Encouraging investments and business partnerships among companies in the region
Filip Knežević, President of the Montenegro Gambling Providers Group, stated during the signing:
“The establishment of the Balkan Gaming Federation represents an important step forward for the Montenegrin gambling market. As an association, we gain a strong regional platform through which we can more effectively protect the interests of the legal sector, exchange experiences, and actively contribute to the creation of sustainable regulatory solutions.”
Strengthening Regional Competitiveness
The BGF will focus on key areas including the fight against unlicensed gambling, the exchange of regulatory best practices, and the promotion of Balkan countries as a premier gaming zone within Europe.
Knežević added:
“For our members, this means direct networking with relevant companies and organizations in the region, opening new business opportunities and additional strengthening of their competitiveness. I believe that the BGF will contribute to making the industry’s voice from Montenegro heard even more strongly and clearly – how on the domestic, so on the regional and European level.”
The next phase of development includes a joint appearance at the Belgrade Future Gaming fair on May 26, where the federation will finalize its statutes and organizational structure.
