
SBC has officially pulled back the curtain on the highly anticipated shortlist for the 2026 SBC Awards Europe. The prestigious ceremony is scheduled to take place at the historic Xara Lodge, Malta, on Thursday, 30 April.
Serving as the grand finale to the third day of the SBC Summit Malta 2026, the evening is set to host 400 of the industry’s most influential professionals to honor the innovators pushing the boundaries of the European betting and gaming landscape.
This year’s edition is more competitive than ever, featuring 35 distinct categories that recognize standout achievements from operators, affiliates, game developers, and specialized service providers. Leading the pack with a dominant showing is Betsson Group, which secured a remarkable seven nominations. They are followed closely by data giant Sportradar, which earned six nods across various technical and data-driven categories.
Recognizing the Boldest in the Industry
Reflecting on the caliber of this year’s entrants, SBC Founder and CEO Rasmus Sojmark emphasized that the awards go beyond mere balance sheets.
“Success in this industry is about more than revenue. It is defined by resilience, creativity, and a willingness to take risks. The SBC Awards Europe are not about recognising the biggest companies, but the boldest. I want to extend a huge congratulations to every company that has been shortlisted.”
In the operator segments, Novibet is positioned for a high-stakes night as it seeks to defend its titles for both ‘Operator Innovation in Gaming’ and ‘Sportsbook Operator of the Year’. The competition for ‘Marketing Campaign and Sponsorship of the Year’ is equally fierce, with 1xBet facing off against rising stars and established names like GG.BET, Allwyn, and Peter & Sons.
Sustainability and Emerging Talent
The 2026 SBC Awards Europe awards also place a heavy emphasis on corporate responsibility. Contenders for the ‘Socially Responsible Initiative of the Year’ include 8888, EPIC Global Solutions, Play’n GO, and Stars Partners, highlighting a continent-wide push toward enhanced player protection. Meanwhile, the battle for ‘Employer of the Year’ sees Alea attempting to retain its crown against a formidable lineup including Altenar, BETBY, GR8 Tech, and SOFTSWISS.
Innovation in game development remains a cornerstone of the event. In the ‘SlotCatalog’ categories, Pragmatic Play and Hacksaw Gaming will defend their ‘Game Studio of the Year’ titles in the Large and Medium segments, respectively. Simultaneously, a vibrant group of smaller studios including Gamzix, Octoplay, Penguin King, and DreamPlay will vie for the ‘Small Game Studio’ trophy.
