The UK Gambling Commission has ordered Stake to cease all operations and leave the country starting next March after a scandal involving an adult actress was posted on social media.
This shocking news comes after an investigation conducted by the Gambling Commission, which revealed that the Stake brand logo was displayed on social media along with an adult actress, just outside of Nottingham Trent University.
As a result of the investigation, and consequently the order, the parent company of Stake, TGP Europe Limited, decided to shut down the platform and halted accepting new registrations altogether.
Stake users have been informed via email of Stake exiting the UK market, stating the reason for the company’s exit from Britain was due to a “business decision,” which unfortunately led to Stake ceasing its operations, stating that as of March 10, no one will be able to log in to their account.

We regret to inform you of a business decision that has led to the Stake brand ceasing its UK operations. On Monday, 10th March 2025, stake.uk.com will close its website, and you will no longer be able to access your account.
Additionally, Stake advised its customers that they need to log in and withdraw their funds from their accounts before the online gaming platform shuts down completely on the designated closure date.
Stake is currently the official front-shirt sponsor of FC Everton, a Premier League team and one of the most legendary clubs in the UK. However, after the scandal, the Gambling Commission said that it plans to write to Everton, plus two other lower-division clubs sponsored by Stake, and warn about the perils of sponsoring illegal gambling websites.
In the UK, clubs that promote illegal gambling websites that transact with consumers may be liable for prosecution and may receive a fine, which is why the Gambling Commission expects clubs to demonstrate restraint and focus only on white-label partners who have the neccessary documentation to offer their services.
