SBC Summit 2025 will once again place the critical issue of safer gambling front and center, with a dedicated Player Protection stage running throughout the three-day event.
From September 16–18 at the Feira Internacional de Lisboa (FIL), this specialized conference track will provide the summit’s 30,000 attendees with a thorough examination of how industry ethics, regulation, and technology combine to influence player safety.
The stage will feature in-depth analysis and insights from a host of experienced professionals, offering a comprehensive look at one of the industry’s most pressing responsibilities.
Rasmus Sojmark, Founder and CEO of SBC, said:
Player protection has rightly evolved from a regulatory checkbox to a core business strategy. As global frameworks tighten and consumer expectations rise, the operators that succeed long term will be those that genuinely embed safety into their model.
The Player Protection stage will be structured around three vital themes, with each day dedicated to a different topic.
Tuesday, 16 September – Regulation: The opening day will delve into the complex relationship between regulatory frameworks and their real-world impact. Sessions will question whether overly strict compliance measures might inadvertently drive players towards unregulated black markets and debate who should ultimately hold responsibility for resolving player disputes—operators, regulators, or a neutral third-party body.
Wednesday, 17 September – Research: The second day shifts focus to practical, evidence-based solutions for player protection. Panel discussions will cover emerging trends, such as how artificial intelligence is reshaping player engagement strategies and why unlicensed gambling sites continue to be a persistent challenge. The agenda will also feature a comparative analysis of global approaches to affordability checks and risk assessment to determine best practices.
Thursday, 18 September – Tech: The final day will be dedicated to the cutting-edge tools and technologies designed to keep players safe. Sessions will explore how different platforms can collaborate to create a unified safety net, the role of AI in monitoring player behaviour, and the unique challenges of ensuring player protection in the world of cryptocurrency gaming.
The Player Protection Stage will host a number of respected safer gambling experts, including: Savo Bakmaz (CEO, Maxbet), Dr. Maris Catania (Director of Player Sustainability, LeoVegas), David Foster (Head of Regulatory Affairs, Entain), Richard Hayler (Managing Director, IBAS), Dr. Alexandra Koerner (Chief Legal & Compliance Officer, Grand Casino Baden AG), Katie Reynolds-Jones (Chief Marketing Officer, GamStop), and Monica Shafaq (CEO, Gordon Moody). Together, they will address the key challenges surrounding harm minimization, regulatory compliance, and sustainable business practices, making this stage essential for any professional involved in player protection strategy.
The Player Protection stage is one of six distinct conference tracks at SBC Summit 2025, which also include Global Markets, Emerging Markets, Technology, Affiliation, and the Super Stage.
