Redditch United Reveals Gordon Moody as Official Charity Partner for the 2025/26 Season

Redditch United has revealed leading responsible gambling advocate Gordon Moody as its official charity partner for the upcoming 2025/26 football season.

The partnership will see the branding of the responsible gambling charity featured on the back of the shirts of Redditch United, as well as a prominent presence at The Valley Stadium throughout the campaign.

This collaboration is the latest in Gordon Moody’s growing efforts to shine a light on problem gambling in the world of sport, following the recent appointments of former footballers Dean Sturridge and John Hartson as ambassadors.

Consequently, the initiative only highlights the ultimate goal of the charity to leverage the unifying power of football to raise awareness around gambling-related harm.

Monica Shafaq, CEO of Gordon Moody, stressed the importance of the partnership by stating:

This partnership with Redditch United is more than just branding – it’s about building a united front to tackle gambling-related harm head-on. With our flagship centre now open in the heart of the town, we’re deeply committed to supporting the local community. Football has the power to bring people together, and by working with Redditch United, we hope to raise awareness, reduce stigma, and ensure that no one feels that they have to face addiction alone.

David Faulkner, Redditch United Chairman, welcomed the partnership and said:

Their dedication to addressing gambling-related harms aligns perfectly with our commitment to supporting the well-being of our community. Together, we can make a meaningful difference in the lives of those affected.

The partnership also follows Gordon Moody’s recent appointment of former footballer Clarke Carlisle as its new Business Development Manager, a vocal advocate for mental health and gambling support who brings further visibility and expertise to the charity’s efforts.

What is particularly interesting is that Gordon Moody opened its flagship residential treatment centre in Redditch towards the end of 2024.

The facility offers specialized programmes for individuals facing dire gambling-related issues, a move that further reinforces the charity’s ties to the local area.
