The grey and freezing skies of South Yorkshire did little to dampen the spirits at Genting Casino Sheffield, where Day 3 of the PartyPoker Tour unfolded with high-stakes intensity and unmatched camaraderie.
As the festival reaches its midpoint, the action on the felt has intensified, with the Mini Main Event prize pool officially surpassing its initial guarantee.
Mini Main Event Surpasses £40,000 GTD
The day kicked off at 12 p.m. with the Day 1D Hyper flight of the Mini Main Event. A late surge of 112 entries brought the total field to a massive 476 entries, generating a total prize pool of £59,500, comfortably “smashing” the £40,000 guarantee.
Edin Hrnjic emerged as the overall chip leader heading into the final stages with a towering 4.03 million chips, followed closely by Season 1 Leaderboard winner Alexander Georgiev (3.25m).
Main Event 1A and Mixed Game Glory
The “big guns” arrived at 3 p.m. for Day 1A of the £100,000 GTD Main Event. From 56 initial entries, 14 players secured their seats for Day 2, led by Muhammad Khalil with 561,000 chips and veteran Richard Trigg (538,000).
Away from the Hold’em tables, the H.O.R.S.E. tournament attracted 51 enthusiasts of the “mixed game of all mixed games.” Ultimately, Henry Owen claimed the title and the lion’s share of the £2,550 prize pool. To close the evening, Daniel James Oliver took down the NLH Turbo Bounty, besting a field of 55 entries.
A Team Like No Other
The day in South Yorkshire was marked by the presence of PartyPoker Ambassador Jaime Staples and the Tour Team, including Hendon Mob founder Joe Beevers and new members Dani Garcia and Rebecca Hardisty.
“It really is wonderful to see them in action; so much camaraderie, respect, and genuine care for each other, turning the team into something very special,” observed onlookers as the team hosted a lively Pub Quiz during the dinner break.
