The PartyPoker Tour Grand Final has officially shifted into high gear, with the £150 Mini Main Event drawing significant crowds across two competitive flights yesterday.
The tournament, which boasts a substantial £50,000 guaranteed prize pool, saw a flurry of activity as players vied for a spot in the final stages.
The action began early in the afternoon with Day 1B, which attracted a robust field of 130 entries. After a long session of play, only 20 competitors managed to secure their bags for the next stage. The flight produced some massive stacks, with the chip leader finishing the day with 914,000 chips.
The players in second and third positions also built strong foundations, bagging 570,000 and 486,000 chips respectively.
Later in the evening, the tables remained busy for Day 1C. This flight recorded 69 entries, with 11 players successfully navigating the field to progress to the final. The evening session saw slightly more conservative chip counts compared to the afternoon, with the top three stacks sitting at 459,000, 428,000, and 315,000 chips.
Notably, PartyPoker Tour Ambassador Matt Staples was spotted among the field, adding star power to the felt.
The festival continues today with a packed schedule designed to cater to various playing styles. The Mini Main Event continues with Day 1D starting in the early afternoon, followed by a turbo flight, Day 1E, in the evening. Side events include a No-Limit Hold’em tournament sponsored by House of Tables and a Pot Limit H.O.R.S.E. event presented by Poker.Pro.
Looking ahead, the excitement is set to ramp up further with the £100,000 guaranteed Main Event and the return of the popular PLO Masters, led by JJ Hazan. Fans unable to attend can tune into the live stream starting Thursday, featuring commentary from Guy Taylor and Ben Shannon.
