The PartyPoker Tour Glasgow kicked off on August 12th at the Alea Casino. Despite the surprisingly scorching weather, poker players turned out in full force. With a total of 1,928 festival entries and an incredible festival prize pool of £303,193, the event culminated in a spectacular week of poker action.
The PartyPoker Tour Glasgow opened with the Mini Main Event, which drew 468 entries and generated a prize pool of £58,406. After a fierce battle at the tables, it was Christian Watt who ultimately claimed victory, taking home the trophy and a first-place prize of £10,260.
As the Mini Main Event was winding down, the £500 Main Event began to build momentum, drawing 256 entries and creating a prize pool of £111,821. The story of the tournament was undoubtedly its winner: Zhen Zhen, who became the PartyPoker Tour’s first female champion. As a newcomer to PartyPoker events, her victory was especially memorable and marked a significant moment for women in poker.
The festival’s tournament schedule was outstanding, featuring highlights such as the Poker.PRO PL HORSE, won by local player Christopher Johnston, the PLO Master Main Event, the Mystery Bounty, and the Tennessee Hold’em Glasgow Championship, alongside the popular Spin the Wheel event. In true PartyPoker style, it was a celebratory week for everyone involved.
Many familiar faces were spotted at the tables, with several achieving fantastic results. The Main Event featured PartyPoker Team member Barry Carter, who also won the Friday Party Madness. He was joined in the Main Event by his The Chip Race partners, David Lappin and Dara O’Kearney, adding extra excitement to the field.
Other notable performances came from Sam Acheapong, who finished 28th, Natalie Bromley, who narrowly missed the money, and Glenn Brown, who secured some deep runs. Asif Warris claimed 24th place, while Aleks Georgiev had an outstanding week, winning two trophies—the Faded Spade Trophy and the Sunday Madness title. PartyPoker Ambassador Jamie Staples also impressed, running deep and making it all the way to the final table.
Adding even more prestige to the series, Joe Beevers, a founder of The Hendon Mob, jumped into the action in the PLO Masters Main Event, which boasted a £25,000 guarantee.
