The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) has awarded a total of Php7 million (approximately $122,700) in cash incentives to recognize the service of the Philippine Inter-Agency Humanitarian Contingent (PIAHC) and Philippine Air Force personnel, the first responders of the Myanmar earthquake.
The award honours the first responders 12-day humanitarian mission following the major earthquake that struck Myanmar in March 2025.
A turnover ceremony was held on July 4 at Camp General Emilio Aguinaldo, where each of the 138 members of the response team was presented with Php50,000.
The multi-agency contingent, which was deployed on April 1, was composed of specialized teams from the Office of Civil Defence, the Department of Health, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority, and the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
During their mission, the team established a Type 1 Fixed Field Hospital in Pyinmana, Naypyidaw, where they treated over 1,000 patients and provided critical assistance to local authorities in search-and-rescue operations.
PAGCOR Chairman and CEO Alejandro Tengco praised the team’s efforts, stating:
We honour not just your bravery, but the compassion that defines Filipino humanitarian missions.
In return for its support, the Department of National Defence presented PAGCOR with a plaque of appreciation.
This contribution is a key part of PAGCOR’s extensive corporate social responsibility (CSR) program, which prioritizes healthcare access, education, and emergency support. The agency has a consistent record of providing aid in times of crisis, both domestically and internationally.
This includes a Php4.1 million donation to support Filipino responders sent to Türkiye following the devastating earthquakes in 2023 and a June 2025 donation of medical transport vehicles to underserved regions within the Philippines.
