The Prize Competition Council (PCC) has officially announced the appointment of Tom Banks as its first Executive Director. Based in London, the UK trade association has experienced rapid growth since its launch earlier this year, expanding its membership base from eight founding companies to 65.
Leading compliance and stakeholder representation
In his new leadership role, Banks will prioritize supporting members with adherence to the Department for Culture, Media and Sport (DCMS) Code of Good Practice for Prize Draw Operators. Independent PCC Chair George McGregor noted that Banks brings valuable expertise in explaining complex regulatory frameworks to public authorities and media outlets across the UK and Europe.
Banks brings more than 13 years of experience in corporate communications, public affairs, and reputation management. His background includes working as a consultant at Public First supporting Kindred for four years, followed by four years in-house, most recently serving as Head of External Relations at FDJ UNITED.
Executive commentary
Commenting on his appointment, Tom Banks stated:
“Millions of people across the UK enter prize draws and competitions each year. The Prize Competition Council has an important role in explaining how the market works, championing responsible operators and making sure the sector’s voice is heard when decisions affecting it are made.”
Banks added:
“My first priority will be listening to members and supporting their work under the DCMS Code. I also want us to make a confident case for the sector by showing the standards responsible operators uphold, explaining how prize competitions work and representing the people who choose to take part.”
Independent Chair George McGregor also shared his perspective:
“The Prize Competition Council now represents 65 members, and supporting them with the requirements of the DCMS Code is our immediate priority. Tom brings experience of explaining complex regulatory issues to government, regulators and the media across the UK and Europe.”
