Melvin Bostelaar, renowned across the industry for his successful tenure leading BetCity.nl, has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of SuomiVeto Oy. Assuming the role on October 22, 2026, Bostelaar is tasked with steering the company toward full commercial operations ahead of the official opening of Finland’s newly regulated gambling market on July 1, 2027.
Reflecting on his return to the iGaming sector, Bostelaar shared:

The leadership transition coincides directly with a major regulatory milestone, where SuomiVeto Oy was officially awarded its gambling licence by the Finnish National Police Board on October 22, 2026.
Building a robust operational framework
With the regulatory framework taking shape, Bostelaar is directing his focus toward assembling an elite operational team and securing strategic infrastructure partnerships.

SuomiVeto has forged key alliances with prominent industry suppliers to power its platform. Kambi has been selected to provide its advanced sportsbook platform, while Bragg will supply the core player account management (PAM) system and comprehensive casino games portfolio. Additionally, the operator has partnered with creative agency Ryhmä and media agency Kohderyhmä to drive brand positioning and consumer outreach across Finland.
Strategic positioning in a shifting European market
Finland’s transition from a state monopoly model to an open, competitive licensing system represents one of the most anticipated regulatory developments in European iGaming.
