The Malta Gaming Authority (MGA) has issued a stern public notice alerting consumers and industry stakeholders to the existence of fraudulent online domains falsely claiming affiliation with the prestigious regulator.
In its latest enforcement update, the Authority explicitly named two websites, lavbet321.com and kasinoseta.com, as unauthorized entities that are presenting themselves as holders of Maltese gaming licenses.
The MGA has categorically stated that these domains have no connection to the regulator and that any assertions of licensure are “false and misleading.” This warning is part of the MGA’s ongoing and intensified campaign to combat the proliferation of unauthorized operators who target players in Malta and international markets by exploiting the regulator’s reputation for safety and integrity.
The Authority emphasized that engaging with such unlicensed entities exposes players to significant risks, as these platforms operate outside the robust legal and player protection frameworks mandated by Maltese law.
The public notice subjects licensed operators under the MGA regime are subject to rigorous compliance standards, including strict anti-money laundering protocols, fair gaming certifications, and responsible gambling safeguards. Unregulated sites, by contrast, offer none of these protections.
The regulator has urged all consumers to independently verify the status of any operator via the MGA’s publicly accessible licensee register before depositing funds.
This crackdown on fraudulent sites coincides with the MGA’s broader initiative to enhance player welfare. In October 2025, the Authority launched a comprehensive self-assessment tool developed in consultation with organizations like Caritas Malta and the Responsible Gaming Foundation.
This digital resource is designed to help individuals evaluate their gambling habits and access personalized support if necessary.
Looking ahead, the MGA has outlined its regulatory roadmap for 2025, signaling that it will maintain a vigilant stance on market supervision. The regulator’s strategy includes a dual focus on fostering a safe environment for licensed operators while aggressively identifying and blacklisting illicit actors that threaten the integrity of the jurisdiction.
