Merkur Casino UK has officially confirmed a significant step in its domestic expansion with the announcement of a new casino opening at Xscape Milton Keynes.
This move solidifies the company’s growing footprint within the UK leisure and entertainment sector. The new venue is scheduled for a grand opening on Saturday, 1 November 2025.
The new casino is a large-scale development, spanning a total of 22,000 square feet. The heart of the operation will be its 1,367 m² gaming floor, which is set to feature a comprehensive selection of modern gaming options.
This includes 72 state-of-the-art slot machines, 26 electronic roulette terminals, and 15 live gaming tables for traditional casino experiences. Complementing the gaming offering, the venue will also boast a 4,700 square foot bar and versatile event space.
This area is specifically designed to host a variety of functions, including live performances, local community events, and private parties, positioning the casino as a multi-purpose entertainment hub.
The selection of Milton Keynes was a strategic decision, leveraging the town’s central location and Merkur’s existing corporate presence, as its UK head office is already based there.
The launch is expected to provide a substantial boost to the local economy, creating over 100 new jobs. These roles will cover diverse areas such as gaming, hospitality, and management.
Merkur has committed to training its new staff through the company’s established development programmes, which are designed to foster long-term career growth.
Reflecting its policy of supporting regional partners, Merkur also engaged local suppliers and contractors throughout the construction and fit-out process.
An official opening event on 1 November will mark the launch, featuring a ribbon-cutting ceremony, live entertainment, and a £10,000 cash prize draw.
This UK opening is part of a wider, global expansion strategy. Recently, Merkur entered the Northern Ireland market for the first time by acquiring Oasis Retail Services.
This move followed the finalization of its Gaming Arts acquisition in September, a deal that advances the company’s plans to re-establish a strong presence in the North American market.
Mark Schertle, COO at Merkur Casino UK, stated:
“We’re continuing to invest significantly in our estate, developing welcoming venues that bring gaming, hospitality and entertainment together. This opening also reflects our confidence in Milton Keynes, both as a growing leisure destination and as our home base.”
