The Dutch Gambling Authority (KSA) has issued a series of warnings to online operators regarding the misleading promotion of “early payout” features.
The regulator’s investigation found that several sites were using the feature to lure players into markets where the benefit was mathematically impossible to achieve.
The “Draw” Trap
The “early payout” feature typically settles a bet as a “win” the moment a chosen team takes a two-goal lead. While highly popular for team wins, the KSA discovered operators were displaying this icon next to “draw” or “tie” options.
Since a team going two goals up automatically negates a draw, the KSA ruled that including the label next to tie selections was inherently deceptive. Some operators even adjusted their odds—offering lower payouts for a draw—under the false pretense that the “early payout” protection applied.
Demanding Absolute Transparency
The KSA emphasized that Dutch law requires every potential betting outcome to be explained with absolute clarity. Players who accepted lower odds for a “draw” bet thinking they were getting a safety net were essentially paying a premium for a non-existent feature.
The KSA:
“Misunderstanding the rules of a specific market creates unfair risks for the consumer.”
Following the regulator’s intervention, the affected operators have updated their user interfaces. The “early payout” label is now strictly reserved for “home” or “away” win selections. The KSA confirmed it will continue to monitor promotional content to ensure that “early wins” do not lead to “easy deception” for the Dutch public.
