Media group iGaming Dragon has reported a large-scale cyberattack targeting its network, an action its CEO claims is a direct retaliation for recent investigative reporting into the grey market.
Maciej Akimow, founder and CEO of iGaming Dragon, revealed via LinkedIn that the company’s infrastructure faced a coordinated Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) attack beginning last Friday evening.
Describing the scale of the incident, Akimow wrote that “at its peak, we recorded nearly 100m requests in a very short timeframe,” with malicious traffic originating primarily from Russia, Colombia, Indonesia, and Egypt.
While the technical team managed to stabilize the systems by morning, the attacks have persisted with “increased intensity,” disrupting services across the group’s various servers. Akimow was clear that he does not view this as a random incident. “We do not believe in coincidences,” he stated, noting that “it is easy to link this event to our activity in recent weeks and our publications.”
Despite the severity of the disruption, Akimow issued a defiant message to those responsible, asserting that the company “will not be intimidated.” Instead of backing down, he promised to double down on their investigative work.
“Any attempt to silence us will have the opposite effect — we will scrutinize the grey market and expose irregularities within the Polish market with even greater determination,” Akimow declared, concluding that they “will not take a single step back.”
