Fiona Power, the Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships for FanDuel in the US, has announced her departure from Flutter Entertainment after more than ten years with the group.
A pivotal figure in the operator’s American expansion, Power played a crucial role in establishing FanDuel’s sports betting operations in New Jersey following the repeal of PASPA in 2018.
A Decade of Growth
Power began her journey with the company in April 2015 at Paddy Power, initially serving as a finance business partner before moving into retail security. She transitioned to FanDuel in 2018 as Director of Retail Projects, eventually rising to become Senior Commercial Director and later Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships.
Reflecting on her tenure in a heartfelt LinkedIn post, Power described the whirlwind experience of launching the US market. “In 2018, I headed to Newark to help launch sports betting in New Jersey. What was meant to be a two-week trip turned into seven unforgettable years,” she wrote.
Building the US Market
Power’s work placed her on the front lines of the US sports betting boom. She detailed the grueling logistics involved in expanding the brand across state lines during unprecedented times.
“From long days at the Meadowlands to early market entries, major launches, COVID-era launches that involved 19-hour drives to Iowa and beyond, and complex partner negotiations, those experiences shaped how I lead, how I collaborate and how I show up, with integrity, accountability, resilience and a lot of heart,” Power stated.
Legacy and Future
Her departure marks the end of an era for the team that built FanDuel’s retail footprint. Power expressed deep gratitude for her colleagues, noting the collective success they achieved.
“It’s hard to put into words what this time has meant to me, but those who know me well know how deeply I loved being part of it,” she added. “I’ve been privileged to work alongside some of the most talented, passionate and committed people in this industry, across both sides of the Atlantic, and to help build retail sportsbooks, partnerships and platforms that didn’t just launch, they soared!”
