Young Guns
Young Guns

Right, so Young Guns by Atlantic Digital… where do I start? At first glance, I figured this was another dusty, boots-n-spurs clone — and to be fair, it kind of is — but it plays smoother than I expected. If you’ve spun more Wild West slots than you care to count, you’ll probably roll your eyes at the name alone. But this one actually holds together decently for what it is.
Visually, it’s clean. Not trying to do too much. Stylized sheriffs, pistols, cowboy hats — you know the drill. At least it doesn’t assault you with a million tumbleweeds and cheesy voiceovers. The soundtrack… well, it tries. Loops a bit like someone found a cowboy stock track on loop for 60 seconds and called it a day.
Gameplay-wise, it’s a straight shooter. 5×3 reel setup, 10 paylines, with your standard Wilds and a Free Spins feature. The real action kicks in during the bonus round — you land 3 scatters and you’re in. Free Spins come with a locked expanding symbol (think Book of Dead, but Western) that can fill the reels and deliver some tidy payouts. Max win is x5,000, which is decent for a medium-high volatility slot. Nothing groundbreaking, but not stingy either.
The base game? Eh. It ticks over okay, but don’t expect much excitement unless you hit a streak of decent premiums. RTP sits around 96%, and bets range from casual spins up to higher-roller territory. Fair enough.
My main gripe? Young Guns plays it way too safe. It’s like Atlantic Digital took the Western blueprint, changed the character art, added expanding symbols, and hit publish. If you’ve played Dead or Alive, Money Train, or even Book of Guns (yes, that’s a real one), you’re not going to find anything fresh here.
That said, it’s not a bad slot. It’s just… familiar. If you’re in the mood for some cowboy action with free spins and locked symbols, it’ll scratch that itch without frying your bankroll.
