I’ll admit, I had to double-check the name — Tail of Crime? Was this about a criminal cat? Nope, just a pun. What we actually get here is a noir-styled detective slot from ElaGames, done up in comic book flair. Think trench coats, neon lighting, moody jazz — the whole “who took the diamonds” vibe. Visually? Not bad at all. If Sin City had a baby with a Saturday morning cartoon, you’d get this.
Gameplay-wise, Tail of Crime sticks to a pretty standard grid — 5 reels, 3 rows, and 20 paylines. Spins are smooth, animations are crisp, and the whole thing has a light interactive feel to it that keeps it from feeling totally phoned in. The RTP sits at a respectable 96.7%, which is slightly above average, and the volatility is in that nice middle ground where you’re not burning your balance every 20 seconds.
The base game throws in a few wilds and modest line hits, but let’s be honest — you’re here for the features. The bonus game triggers with three scatter symbols and turns into a pick-style mini heist: you choose clues to uncover multipliers. It’s fine. Nothing revolutionary, but there’s a bit of dopamine if you land the better multipliers.
Then there’s the free spins round, which does a decent job of adding a bit of spice. Certain symbols get upgraded as you go, and while it’s no Gates of Olympus frenzy, you can build up something decent if the reels align. Max win caps out around 3,000x, which is okay but won’t make high-volatility fans rush in.
To be blunt, Tail of Crime isn’t pushing the genre forward — but it’s also not insulting your time. It looks good, plays clean, and has enough under the hood to hold your attention for a few sessions.
Might not be for everyone, but if you like detective stories or just want a stylish break from all the fruit and pharaohs, it’s worth a spin. Try the demo and see if you crack the case.
