The Western Australian Government has determined that Crown Perth is suitable to continue holding its casino licence, concluding a rigorous period of oversight and remediation for the operator.
This decision marks the final step in a series of comprehensive state-level reviews for Crown Resorts’ three Australian properties, with its Melbourne and Sydney venues having been deemed suitable earlier in 2024.
The finding of suitability follows an extensive transformation initiative at Crown Perth. The company successfully implemented 342 distinct measures under its “Enhanced Perth Remediation Action Plan.”
This wide-ranging program addressed critical areas identified by regulators, including governance, compliance, financial crime prevention, and responsible gambling protocols. Across its entire business, Crown Resorts has invested approximately AU200million(US130.5 million) into these reforms.
As part of its strengthened commitment to player safety, Crown Perth will introduce mandatory carded play for all its electronic gaming machines, effective December 1, 2025.
This measure, which links play to a verified identity, was previously rolled out at Crown Melbourne and is a key pillar of its harm minimization strategy.
Brian Pereira, CEO of Crown Perth, stated:
Holding a casino licence means holding a social licence and we have a responsibility to operate with the highest level of integrity every day.
Crown Resorts CEO David Tsai added that with all three properties now deemed suitable, the company’s focus is on remaining the safest place to gamble in Australia.
The positive outcome was reached after an intensive monitoring period, during which Crown Perth submitted over 8,300 documents for regulatory evaluation.
