Buzz Bingo and Stroke Association Smash Fundraising Target

A three-year charitable partnership between the omni-channel operator Buzz Bingo and the Stroke Association has concluded with a remarkable achievement, raising a total of £300,000 for stroke survivors.

This figure significantly surpasses the original target of £200,000 that was set when the collaboration began in 2022. The funds were generated through the collective efforts of Buzz Bingo’s staff and customers across the UK, who participated in a variety of fundraising activities ranging from sponsored runs and walks to community tea parties.

The partnership was founded on a shared mission to tackle social isolation, a common and often debilitating consequence of suffering a stroke. Both organizations recognized a natural synergy between their goals: the Stroke Association works to rebuild lives after trauma, while Buzz Bingo’s clubs serve as community hubs that foster connection.

The collaboration highlighted how the game of bingo itself can be beneficial for recovery, offering a social environment that also helps survivors practice essential motor and cognitive skills in a fun, low-pressure setting.

One of the standout initiatives of the campaign involved the sale of exclusively designed charity bingo dabbers. These items not only generated direct revenue but also served as a catalyst for conversation, raising awareness about stroke recovery within the bingo halls.

The money raised is earmarked for critical services, including funding scientific research and providing tailored support to tens of thousands of survivors navigating their recovery journeys.

The success of this initiative underscores the importance of corporate social responsibility in the gaming sector. By leveraging their physical presence in communities across the country, Buzz Bingo was able to mobilize a large customer base for a cause that affects over 85,000 people in the UK annually.

The partnership successfully created spaces where vulnerable individuals could feel connected, validated, and supported.

Dominic Mansour, CEO of Buzz Bingo:

It’s been humbling to play a part in raising £300,000 for the Stroke Association. This achievement isn’t just about the money – every sponsored walk or run, every tea party and charity bingo game has built connections in our community. Bingo itself can support motor and cognitive skills, so supporting stroke survivors in their recovery and giving them a place to socialise felt like a natural fit.

Juliet Bouverie OBE, CEO of the Stroke Association:

Over 85,000 people survive a stroke every year in the UK, but surviving a stroke is just the start of a long and gruelling recovery journey. Anyone, mums, dads, grandparents, young people, even children can have a stroke, and its impact is traumatic. We are incredibly grateful to Buzz Bingo and its customers for their outstanding support during the three-year partnership. The fantastic amount raised is testament to their creativity and commitment.
