BetBlocker, the leading provider of free, anonymous gambling blocking software, has announced a significant expansion of its accessibility by launching full support for the Arabic language.

This development marks a pivotal moment in the charity’s 2025 roadmap, which has already seen the integration of languages ranging from Japanese and French to three specific Zambian dialects.

The decision to prioritize Arabic is rooted in the immense global footprint of the language, which is spoken by over 5% of the world’s population. By extending its services to the Arabic demographic, BetBlocker is effectively providing a safety net for over 400 million native speakers who previously lacked access to these critical harm-minimization tools in their primary tongue.

Duncan Garvie, Founder and Trustee for BetBlocker, acknowledged that the organization is actively working to correct a historical imbalance in its accessibility. “With a few notable exceptions, BetBlocker’s language support has unintentionally focused on Indo-European languages,” Garvie explained.

He noted that broadening their linguistic capabilities has been a key driver of growth, “evidenced by almost 300k active users supported this year.”

However, Garvie admitted that the previous focus had “omitted support for some of the biggest communities in the world.” He views the introduction of the new interface as a strategic turning point, describing it as “the start of what I hope to be a diversification of the communities that can access BetBlocker’s support.”

The project was realized largely through the volunteer efforts of Malek Zitouni, whom Garvie credited as essential to the initiative’s success. “We couldn’t reach so many vulnerable people without the generous folks who champion our work and contribute to our project,” Garvie stated, expressing his gratitude for Zitouni’s time.

Looking ahead, the organization believes this expansion will be instrumental in protecting vulnerable individuals in underserved regions. Garvie concluded by expressing strong optimism for the future, stating that the team is “really excited about this launch and believe that this will help ensure increased numbers of people supported in 2026.”
