KC Gaming Networks Limited, the operator behind the prominent Bet9ja Casino brand, has issued a forceful denial regarding claims of unpaid taxes in Enugu State.
This response follows the February 9, 2026, shutdown of several Bet9ja retail outlets by the Enugu State Gaming and Lotto Commission, acting on an ex-parte court order.
A Stance Against “Stampeded” Levies
Dr. Ayo Ojuroye, Managing Director and CEO of Bet9ja Casino, stood firm against the regulator’s enforcement actions, describing the company as a “model corporate entity” with a 12-year history of compliance in the state. In a pointed official statement, the company declared:
“[Bet9ja] WILL NOT BE STAMPEDED INTO PAYING LEVIES/TAXES IT DOES NOT GENERATE FROM ENUGU STATE.”
Ojuroye clarified that KC Gaming Networks Limited’s Bet9ja, has attempted to resolve the dispute through dialogue with the Enugu State Internal Revenue Service, but remains adamant that it owes no “legitimate fees, levies, taxes or outstanding payments”.
The legal battle is now set to move to the High Court of Enugu State, where Bet9ja will seek to reverse the closures and protect its extensive retail network from what it views as an incorrect interpretation of revenue obligations.
