Tracking blockchain data and seized funds
According to data from blockchain intelligence platform Arkham, government linked wallets initiated substantial digital asset movements on Tuesday. The transfers included approximately 833.6 BTC valued at $71.6 million, which was sent to two unlabeled addresses before routing to destinations identified as Coinbase Prime deposit addresses.
Further breakdown of the Bitcoin revealed that 568.7 BTC originated from Potapenko/Turogin forfeited funds, while 264.9 BTC was seized during investigations connected to the Bitfinex hack case.
In a separate transaction, a government labeled wallet transferred roughly 40,285 BNB worth $31.63 million to an initial unlabeled address, which subsequently routed the full balance to another unlabeled wallet. These BNB tokens originated from assets previously seized from Alameda Research.
Market implications and liquidation status
Despite the routing of Bitcoin toward addresses labeled as Coinbase Prime deposits, official confirmation regarding an actual asset sale has not been established. Reports indicate that the U.S. government continues to retain approximately $27.5 billion in seized cryptocurrency, with holdings accumulated entirely through law enforcement and regulatory enforcement actions rather than taxpayer funded purchases.
Analysts emphasize that blockchain movements alone cannot definitively prove whether assets are being prepared for liquidation, transferred for secure custody, or simply reorganized for administrative purposes.
