Mastercard has officially launched its Global Money Platform in partnership with BVNK following its acquisition of the blockchain infrastructure provider in August 2026.
Unifying multi-currency accounts and treasury management
The new platform combines fiat accounts, stablecoin payments, and currency conversion through a single application programming interface (API), enabling businesses and financial institutions to manage cross-border transactions efficiently.
At the core of the Global Money Platform is a flexible multi-currency account structure capable of holding traditional fiat currencies and stablecoins within a single system. Designed specifically for enterprises handling complex international cash flows, the platform allows businesses to receive funds, execute currency exchanges, and disburse payments without juggling multiple banking providers.
In addition to day-to-day transaction processing, the platform provides comprehensive treasury tools for managing liquidity and settlements. Companies can select individual modules from the platform suite without adopting the entire infrastructure all at once. Chris Harmse, co-founder and chief business officer at BVNK, noted that the infrastructure aims to serve as a foundational layer for all forms of money.
