The Cardano Foundation announced on October 22, 2026, that the Cardano Academy will integrate its educational curriculum into the University of Nicosia’s (UNIC) online blockchain course, alongside sponsoring 25 student places in the advanced track. Under the agreement, the teaching sessions will cover core Cardano fundamentals and the extended unspent transaction output (eUTxO) model.

The university values the sponsored access at approximately five thousand euros, with standard advanced enrollment priced at one hundred ninety-nine euros per student. According to UNIC’s schedule, the introductory track spans weeks one through eight, while advanced learners continue through week 12, with the next course session scheduled to commence on February 8, 2027. Cardano participates alongside other major industry players, with UNIC’s published syllabus assigning roles to Ripple in tokenization and stablecoins, Avalanche in decentralized finance, and Trezor in wallet security.

Expanding academic partnerships globally

The collaboration with UNIC forms part of the Cardano Foundation’s broader global educational strategy. Beyond Nicosia, the Foundation maintains academic partnerships across multiple continents. A multi-year agreement with the UCLA Anderson School of Management’s Venture Accelerator will bring Cardano Academy material into the Blockchain Cryptocurrency Applications in Business and Finance course beginning in 2027, complete with sponsored fellowships and masterclasses.

Additional international initiatives include an international summer school collaboration with the University of Zurich Blockchain Center, decentralized finance research through Ledger Labs at PUC-Rio in Brazil, a Project Development Lab with the University of Brasília, and an education partnership with Argentina’s Universidad Tecnológica Nacional.

Executive commentary and public sector training

The Foundation’s ongoing push into professional and public sector training has also yielded notable milestones. At the Cardano Summit in November 2025, the organization introduced an AI and blockchain course developed in partnership with the Blockchain Research Institute for business leaders. Furthermore, in March 2025, a public-sector partnership in Brazil with state-owned technology provider SERPRO made Cardano Academy training available to its eight thousand employees, supporting digital infrastructure integration following a 2023 alliance with Petrobras.
