Prominent gaming and hospitality operator Boyd Gaming has announced the promotion of Dan Ihm to the position of senior vice president of operations for its regional portfolio spanning Louisiana and Mississippi.
Alongside his expanded multi-state responsibilities, Ihm will continue to serve in his capacity as general manager of the company’s flagship IP Casino Resort Spa located in Biloxi, Mississippi, a leadership post he has held since April 2025.
Announcing the appointment through corporate professional channels, Boyd Gaming outlined the scope of his new oversight:
“In his new role, Dan will assume operating oversight of Boyd’s five casino properties in Louisiana and Mississippi, reporting to Ward Shaw, executive vice president of operations.”
Expanding leadership footprint across southern markets
Ihm’s career within the enterprise is marked by consistent operational excellence across competitive U.S. jurisdictions. Before taking the helm at the Biloxi resort in early 2025, he successfully served as vice president and general manager of the company’s Kansas Star Casino in Mulvane, Kansas. His deep familiarity with regional gaming operations positions him well to guide the five properties under his new regional remit.
The leadership realignment follows a series of strategic executive movements within the organization. Earlier in October, Boyd Gaming also elevated Rick Goldstein from senior vice president and general manager to senior vice president of operations, reflecting the company’s ongoing commitment to empowering seasoned leaders within its executive ranks.
Strengthening regional property performance
As regional gaming continues to demonstrate steady durability across the United States, experienced leadership remains paramount to maintaining high operational standards, guest satisfaction, and regulatory compliance. Under Ihm’s continued guidance, the Biloxi resort has sustained strong market positioning, and his promotion allows Boyd Gaming to leverage his expertise across its broader southern cluster.
Reporting directly to Executive Vice President of Operations Ward Shaw, Ihm will focus on driving operational synergies, enhancing guest experiences, and supporting property teams across both Louisiana and Mississippi.
