GamCare, one of the foremost responsible gambling organizations, has appointed Victoria Corbishley as the new Chief Executive Officer, taking over the role from CEO now former CEO D’Arcy Myers.

A heavyweight in the realm of health and care, Victoria Corbishley previously occupied the position of Senior Director of Health and Care at the British Red Cross while simultaneously working in the National Health Service in the healthcare innovation and voluntary sector.

Moreover, Corbishley will assume the new role as CEO of GamCare and will play a key role in strengthening collaboration with major stakeholders and enhancing accessibility with the purpose of maintaining the support work of GamCare, including the treatment and education for at-risk players.

Victoria Corbishley said that as the new CEO, she is “honoured” to join the ranks of GamCare at such a sensitive time in the UK gambling scene, highlighting the impressive numbers behind the charity, which saw 64,000 use the educational tools by the organization in 2024 alone.

I am honoured to join GamCare at this crucial time. Last year alone, GamCare’s National Gambling Helpline received over 55,000 calls and online chats. The charity also directly delivered more than 9,100 structured treatment sessions, referred over 7,100 individuals to other regional support providers, and 64,000 people participated in the charity’s education programmes.

Additionally, Corbishley said that one of her priorities would be ensuring that GamCare is at the forefront of problem gambling, and the way she intends to do this is by supporting “life-changing interventions” and working closely with the NHS to re-envision gambling harm prevention treatment.

These numbers highlight the essential role GamCare plays in supporting those affected by gambling harms and reinforce our commitment to accessible, high-quality care. My focus will be on ensuring GamCare remains a leader in delivering life-changing interventions while working closely with partners across the NHS and wider sector to shape the future of gambling harm prevention treatment.

Margot Daly, GamCare Chair of the Board, said that Victoria’s expertize, leadership skills, strategic mindset, and knack for innovation is in perfect alignment with GamCare’s mission, stating that she is excited to work closely with the new CEO to expand the impact of the charity and ensure support for everyone who needs it.

As GamCare navigates the evolving landscape, Victoria’s leadership will be instrumental in strengthening our collaborations with the NHS as well as UKRI and OHID as the new prevention commissioner. Her strategic mindset, operational expertise, and commitment to innovation align perfectly with our mission. I look forward to working with Victoria as we continue to expand GamCare’s impact and ensure our services remain responsive to the needs of those we support.

D’Arcy Myers has worked as the CEO of GamCare since August 2023. Previously, she had extensive experience of more than 12 years as a charity CEO for another organization prior to her accepting the position from Anna Hemmings, who stepped down as GamCare CEO in June 2024.
