DigiPlus has secured three key licenses in the Western Cape, South Africa's most lucrative online gaming province.

DigiPlus Interactive Corp, the Philippines-listed gaming powerhouse, has officially secured three online gaming licenses from South Africa’s Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board.

This landmark approval grants the firm entry into a market that generated an impressive $4.9 billion in revenue in 2025, positioning DigiPlus to capitalize on Africa’s rapidly expanding digital wagering landscape.

Strategic Entry via the Western Cape

The Western Cape province, anchored by Cape Town, is the primary hub for South African iGaming, accounting for approximately 31% of the national online revenue.

DigiPlus secured a national manufacturer license, a bookmaker license, and a bookmaker premises license, allowing for a multifaceted approach to market entry. The company cited the province’s transparent regulatory framework and robust digital infrastructure as key drivers for the expansion.

South Africa represents DigiPlus’s second major international venture. While the firm’s initial push into Brazil is currently on hold, with a planned restart in early 2026, the South African rollout provides a fresh avenue for growth.

Leveraging a Diverse Product Suite

DigiPlus intends to adapt its successful Philippine model, which includes BingoPlus, ArenaPlus (sports betting), and GameZone (casual arcade games), for the local audience South Africa.

Despite a 36% dip in Q4 2025 net income to PHP2.5 billion ($41.9 million), the company remains in a strong expansion phase. Parallel to its international efforts, DigiPlus is pursuing a $204.1 million acquisition of convertible notes to gain control of the New Coast Hotel Manila, which is being redeveloped into a premier integrated resort.

The licensing win in the Western Cape underscores the operator’s ability to navigate complex global regulations while simultaneously scaling its domestic footprint.
