Franchise Becomes First in Major League Baseball to Align with a Prediction Market Operator
The New York Mets have announced a multi-year partnership with Novig, establishing the operator as the club’s exclusive official prediction market partner. Announced on Thursday, the collaboration makes the Mets the first Major League Baseball franchise to partner with a prediction market company, integrating Novig across Citi Field through ballpark signage, branded in-game activations, broadcast features, and social media channels.
Executive Perspectives
Jacob Fortinsky, CEO and co-founder of Novig, stated:
“Our mission is to build the home for sports trading. Partnering with one of baseball’s most iconic franchises allows us to bring that vision directly to fans in one of the greatest sports markets in the world.”
Lew Sherr, President of Business Operations for the Mets, added:
“We’re proud to be the first Major League Baseball club to partner with a prediction market company, giving our fans a new and engaging way to connect with the game. Innovation is a defining characteristic of our business, and this partnership is another example of our commitment to staying at the forefront of the evolving sports landscape.”
Growing Adoption Across North American Sports
The agreement highlights the accelerating integration of prediction markets within major North American sports leagues. While the NBA has largely avoided direct team marketplaces, though players like Giannis Antetokounmpo have taken individual stakes in platforms like Kalshi, the NHL has previously seen deals involving teams like the Chicago Blackhawks and New York Rangers.
Novig’s alliance with the Mets includes strict participation in MLB’s integrity program, which features comprehensive market monitoring, collaborative reporting protocols, and risk mitigation safeguards.
